It's Bafana Bafana Time!!

The wait is finally over. South Africa is returning to the FIFA World Cup!

After 16 long years since Bafana Bafana last stepped onto a World Cup stage and 16 years since South Africa hosted the world on home soil in 2010, our boys have done it. They've qualified. They're going. And this Thursday, 11 June 2026, they kick off what could be the most electrifying chapter in South African football history.

When South Africa hosted the 2010 FIFA World Cup, it was one of the greatest sporting celebrations the African continent had ever seen. Vuvuzelas echoing across the globe. Shakira. Waka Waka. That unmistakable feeling of pride. But our national team couldn't make it past the group stage on home soil, a heartbreak that stung for years.

Since then, South African football fans have watched qualifying campaign after qualifying campaign fall short. 2014. 2018. 2022. Each time, hope followed by gut-punch disappointment.

But this year we've made it, plus we've recruited another South African for the event. Tyla will be performing at The Opening Ceremony, which Kicks off at 19:30.

There's no better place in Cape Town to watch Bafana Bafana's World Cup campaign begin than right here at Ground Culture Café, 170 Lower Main Road, Observatory

Come on down for some vibes, good food and South African Spirit!!
